Zakynthos Island !
Today’s visitors would agree, though they come for its endless beaches – Lagana, Tsilivi, Argassi, Kalamaki, Alykes – where British, French and Italians party day and night.
Looking for indelible moments? You’ll find them when you swim at the famous Shipwreck Beach, watch the sunset from the cliffs of Keri and Kryoneri, listen to the islanders sing their cantatas and see the endangered caretta caretta sea turtles lay their eggs in the island’s white sands. Welcome to Zakynthos
Shipwreck Beach, Laganas, Gerakas, Vasilikos, Marathonisi, the Blue Caves …
all rank among the most splendid in Greece.
Vying for first place, the renowned shipwreck at the eponymous beach adds drama to the ubiquitous white sand, white cliffs and turquoise green water.
Caretta caretta sea turtles lay their eggs in the sands of Gerakas, Dafni, Kalamaki, Marathonisi and, especially, Sakania, east of Laganas, as they always have.
If you’re lucky enough to witness this spectacle
SHIPWRECK IS ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS BEACHES IN THE WORLD.
Shipwreck is one of the most famous beaches in the world. It is named after a shipwreck (MV Panagiotis), which sunk on the shore around 1980. The scenery is unique because there is a beach of white pebbles, with turquoise waters, surrounded by steep cliffs. This beach is accessible only by boat. You can book a boat tour from Zakynthos town, from Porto Vromi or from Agios Nicolas Port in Volimes. You can also see Navagio from the top of the cliff and enjoy the breathtaking view. You will have the chance to take the best “best selfie” ever.

CAMEO
Cameo is a tiny little island off the shore of Laganas Bay. This picturesque island is the perfect place for your backdrop photos. This shabby-chic venue is surrounded by tropical trees and jutted cliffs enhancing its natural beauty given by nature. Its petite beach area allows this little gem to offer you a tranquil refuge for your wedding group away from the mass tourism.Cameo is the ultimate island experience for the true lovers of the sea and is transformed into one of the most romantic photographic locations. Even the most vivid imagination could conjure up with the decorations being as simple or as exotic as your heart desires… literally your own personal paradise. It has a fairytale entrance across the rustic wooden bridge that is almost reminiscent of Robinson Crusoe tales and the sapphire and emerald waters meet rugged little cliffs with the green of the island literally almost spilling over into the sea. ·The beach cove area can be offered for your photos · Receptions be catered for at other venues; Vezalis Beach being the most popular as it is only 10 min drive away · Due to the set-up of this venue simple dress code and sensible shoes is highly recommended

MARATHONISI
I Another part of the island is known as Marathonisi. It is a tiny uninhabited island in Laganas Gulf, with exotic beauty, white sand, crystal clear waters and it is visited by the caretta – caretta turtles! It is preferred by the turtles to lay their eggs. For humans, it is the most restricted area on the island, because it is the place where the turtles go to reproduce in the summer, so any human appearance can threaten them. That’s why even when humans come for sight-seeing, they are expected to stay within the range of about 5-meters of a small beach. It also looks like a turtle and therefore it is known as the turtle island. Marathonisi is part of the national marine park and it contains tropical vegetation, turquoise waters and sea caves. The remoteness of the island offers peacefulness. To visit Marathonisi book a boat trip from Laganas, Agios Sostis, Porto Koukla, Keri or rent a boat to explore the coast. No one is allowed to build anything on this island, every human activity is very much restricted to safe-guard the Caretta Caretta

SOLOMOS SQUARE
Dionisios Solomos Square is the central and bigger square in the city and there take place several religious and cultural events & celebrations. Here stands out the statue of our National poet, Dionisios Solomos, nowadays a copy of the original statue, work of the Athenian sculptor Georgios Vroutos. The square is found in the end of the central port dock and its current form (paving) is post-earthquake. In this area, in the old times, used to be water (sea) , but durng the works for the extension of the city, the area was casted. In the old times the Square was also called “Port Square” because it was formes by the casting of the area. Around the Square we admire several remarkable buildings which still follow their pre-earthquake form, as well as the church of Saint Nikolaos of the Port. On the left, stands the Town Hall of Zakynthos Zante and in the south the statue of Ugo Foskolo. More statues in the Square, are those of Pavlos Karer ans the Staue of Freedom.

GERAKAS
Gerakas beach offer another different enjoyable moment on this island, it is located on the south of Zakynthos and is part of the national marine park. There is a huge sandy beach of exotic beauty with warm, shallow sea water. The Caretta turtles lay their eggs there too. There are a few umbrellas and sunbeds. Gerakas is ideal for those who wish to spend their day relaxing in a peaceful beach. This is a nice place to let your mind escape every form of stress, the sight is relieving and the air is refreshing
